Here is the class and the link. They are raising funds for Charity: Water and would love your support in doing so again this year. They have a goal of $5,000.

This picture represents a group of students who used their influence and online voices through social media to raise awareness and raise money for aid relief organizations serving in Haiti after the earthquake.

Students Rally Around Haiti
A couple of days ago the entire class had identified the cause of their choice as a requirement for our class. Their level of participation would result in a contest that would crown a winner and in turn send a donation that organization. You can read the full post again here.

100 Words - Andrew Sikora
Social networking is life.
For most of us we connect, plan, recruit, engage, learn and relate through various streams of social media.
But here’s the thing… social media isn’t living.
There’s still a whole world out there a part from the screens and mini-keyboards and that is where we come alive.
Like anything in order to engage responsibly we must be disciplined. Here’s some tips for...

Yes, it’s been a long time.
Can I get you some coffee?
What happened next?
That must have been hard.
Yes, I struggle with that, too.
I know someone who’s been through a similar challenge. Would you like her name?
What if we both worked on that?
Sure, we can invite them. Send them a link.
Leave a trail. Care a lot. Start in the mirror. Look across the table. Listen. Respond. Trust.

100 Words - Andy Welfle
“Social media is most effective if you are consistent and patient. Being authentic is important, because the hive mind of the internet can filter out deception and worthless claims. Effective social media users are honest, open, and engage in multiple conversations. Try to find a happy medium between authenticity and a comfortable level of personal privacy. If you use social media for a business...
Students Tweet For Cause
Part of the requirements of this J-Term class at Huntington University is for each student to identify a non-profit and/or social cause personal to them and utilize social media tools to raise awareness for that cause. I threw in $100 and encouraged each student to add to the donation pool as they could to provide an incentive to participate.
100% of the funds raised will go to the charity of...
100 Words - Cory Whitehead
“In the 10 years since I graduated, marketing and communications have changed dramatically. Word-of-mouth is more powerful than ever and the trust in organizations lower than ever. Social media takes this to a whole new level—from being able to interact directly with celebrities to being able to praise or critique a business to the masses. Businesses must be involved in social media,...

Heather mentioned this guy’s book called Tribes. He is a HUGE marketing/communication voice. This book is really powerful that provides great insight into how we categorize ourselves whether or not we realize it.
